  Product DescriptionOverview:The DSG is built to the latest edition ofISO13709(API610)It is a type BB5horizontal,radially split, diffuser type,multistage barrel pump. The rotorstack can be either inline (all theimpellers facing towards the driver) orBack-to-back.On the smaller pumps.the inboard seal chamber and bearinghousing must be removed for cartridgeremoval. On larger pumps, the entirecartridge can be removed as anassembly to speed overhaul or re-rateturnaround time.The barrel is available as either acasting or forging with a variety offlange ratings to meet individualspecifications.It is normally centerlinesupported for thermal stability andmaximum nozzle load capacity. Thebarrel closure is either the traditionalflanged head-studs and nuts,flangedhead-SupernutsorpatentedTwistlock closure for speedy removaland assembly.The inner cartridge consists of stackeddiffuser/impeller sets. A double suctionfirst stage impeller is available on allbut the smallest sizes. Axial thrust iscompensated by a balance drum forinline stacked rotors. The diffusershydraulically balance radial forces.Forthose services where intermediatepressure takeoff is needed,higher flowdiffuser/impeller sets can be utilized upto the takeoff stage,and then lowerflow sets are used after the takeoffstage to optimize efficiency andperformance.When design conditionschange, rerates are similarly achievedusing different diffuser/impellercombinations, or blank stages all in thesame barrel.For applications on light gravity fluidswith many stages,a back-to-back rotorstack is utilized to allow direct drive atnormal motor speeds and provideimproved rotordynamics.In such rotorsthe opposed impellers cancel most of the axial thrust. The center bushingand throttle bushings take most of theresidual axial thrust, so the thrustbearing loads are minimal. The back-to-back design allows the use of a7300 series ball thrust bearing andsaves the substantial cost andmaintenance components associatedwith lube oil systems. For highpressure and high energy levels, inlineor back-to-back stack, high speedsemi-stiff rotor designs are available.Depending upon pump size,powerand rotor design,the pumps can besupplied with ring oil or oil mistlubricated antifriction bearings,ring oillubricated sleeve radial ball thrustbearings,or pressure lubricated sleeveradial-tilting pad thrust bearings.Materials: All common ISO13709(API 610)material combinations are available.ApplicationThousands of DSGpumps areinstalled around the world. Opposeoimpellers balance majority of axial thrust. Centerbushing and throttle bushing take nearly all theresidual axial thrust. Even when clearances are worn.axial and radial loads remain balanced.Fan cooled,ring oil lubricated, sleeve/ball thrustbearing without lube systems are common up to ISO13709 (API 610) Table 9 limits, or Sulzer limitsdepending upon application.
